I was one of several photographers commissioned by the Portland Museum of
Art to make photographs inspired by the restoration of the McLellan-Sweat
House and the L. D. M. Sweat Memorial Galleries. I choose to highlight the
benevolent and cultural contribution of Margaret J. M. Sweat. In 1906, Sweat
left her home and $100,000 for the construction of the L.D. M. Sweat Memorial
Galleries. Without her firm commitment to the visual arts, her vision, and
her financial support, the museum as we know it today would not exist.
A small exhibition brochure with 4 color postcards of this project is available
for $10.00 plus $5.00 for shipping. Please contact me if you would like one.
